TRUSTING IN PROVIDENCE
As Little Sisters of the Poor we trust in God’s Providence to care for our elderly family. This might seem precariously naïve in today’s challenging and complex healthcare environment, but trust is what has sustained generations of Little Sisters of the Poor here in the United States and around the world.
Did you know?
- As a mendicant order, we do not have an endowment. Following the example of our Mother Foundress, each of our Homes relies on the charitable contributions of friends, benefactors, and the community.
- Caring for our dear ones in a manner respectful of their dignity far exceeds the income received from their small pensions, Social Security, or Medicaid. In fact, more than 1/3 of our annual expenses are covered by your generous support through special events, church collections, thoughtful legacy gifts, and various communications. Grants are also essential sources of income and we are fortunate for funding by local organizations, foundations and trusts.
- Since 1881, the Little Sisters of the Poor have cared for the elderly poor in Rhode Island. As we continue to trust in God’s Providence, we humbly ask that you make a gift in support of our mission at www.littlesistersofthepoorpawtucket.org.
